I've been a member of SWING for2 years. At my first SWING event I was a little nervous going into a new situation. I wasn't quite sure how competitive it would be. Sometimes it can be hard "cracking in" to a new group. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I couldn't have felt more welcomed. It was quite clear that the "ladies" were there for some great golf and the camaraderie that comes with it. Skill level was not important. Give it a try. Take advantage of the $5 trial. Bring a friend along with you. Its like going on tour in eastern Massachusetts. You'll golf on courses you probably would never try otherwise.

I have been a member of SWING for about 12 years. My first event was a bit nerve wracking in that I was very, very new to the game. I wanted to meet other women who wanted to play, but I was insecure as to whether my skill level would be a hindrance. To my great happiness and relief, I met very welcoming golfers, patient people who had fun with the game and offered me kind and helpful suggestions. I can truthfully say that, if it weren’t for SWING, I might have left the game and that would have been a loss. Golf, and the friends and travel I have enjoyed through golf, have been a great source of joy and fun in my life for many years. I thank SWING for giving me the opportunity to grow as a golfer and to come back year after year to play with wonderful partners at very attractive courses. For anyone thinking about playing more, meeting new golfers, trying out the game, getting to have the experience of a variety of course, I say SWING is a tremendous resource you should not overlook! |

I joined SWING with a friend in 2009. After driving 2 hours to our first event, we were warmly welcomed by Karen & Mary! We then met some other members and our golfing partners; after a few holes of golf, any anxiety had disappeared!
What I like about SWING is the non-competitive format; getting to play a variety of courses; it is a well-organized program; and by Labor Day weekend at Bethel Inn, I got to be the course "Ranger"!
If you're thinking about joining, I'd say, "Just do it"! I can say that by committing to join and play more, I have seen some improvement in my game (very exciting)! Hope to see you on the course. |

I've been a SWING member for 2 years. I felt fine attending my first SWING event. I went with my friend, Melody. Whatever fear I had was centered on whether I could play golf that day or not. Everyone absolutely made me feel welcome and comfortable.
Edie says, Try SWING, if you want to play golf, this is the group, even if it's occasionally. There is no commitment for all the events...your choice how many you play. |

I've been a SWING member since 2001. I was nervous and unsure about the whole joining thing! I had never played golf with strangers before. The other members of my foursome made me feel welcome and let me know that this was a fun event. There was no pressure and no one was concerned with my game. Everyone played their own game and at their own level.
Melody says, if you want to play golf with a bunch of fun ladies, SWING is for you. You can play, learn from others and make a lot of new friends. What could be better? |

I've been a member of SWING on and off since 1998 (mostly on). At my first SWING event I was nervous, as I had just taken up golf that year. It was the first time I was playing on an 18-hole regulation course. The other members were very welcoming. As long as you stick with the twice par and pick it up rule and are open to learning and following golf etiquette, everyone understands that all great players started as beginners.
Beth says, don't hesitate join SWING now! |

2008 will be my 4th year belonging to SWING. I was extremely nervous at my first SWING event. Joining this group by myself was one of the more difficult things I have done. Although looking back on it now, I believe it was one of the best decisions I have made in a long while. The members are wonderful. Everyone is extremely welcoming and friendly. I felt very much part of the group starting on day one.
Maureen says, regardless of golfing experience or handicap, SWING is a great opportunity to meet some new people and have a lot of fun out on the golf course! |

I've been a SWING member for approximately 7 or 8 years. I believe I joined the first year that (or shortly after) I started playing golf. How brave of me!! I remember being quite nervous at my first SWING event because I was very new to the game of golf. One funny memory during my first season was when I forgot to secure my bag in the back of the golf cart...of course my bag and clubs fell to the ground. I must have turned several shades of read and purple. Some of the members just laughed and reassured me that it had happened to them at one time. I also recall that my legs would shake on the first tee at almost every event that first year because others were watching me tee off. Thankfully, that has subsided! Most members did reach out to make me feel welcome. As with any group, some members are more outgoing and friendly than others. I always try to make new people feel welcome because I think that's very important.
Susan says, I would encourage anyone to give SWING a try, regardless of the level they play at. It's great to have other women to play golf with, and we play some beautiful courses. I would feel a little lost if I didn't have SWING to look forward to every spring. I've met some really nice women, and I really enjoy the socialization after a round. I'm looking forward to this season...it can't come soon enough! |
